Parag Kumar Deka

Parag Kumar Deka is a bilingual Indian writer from the northeastern state of Assam who writes in Assamese and English. He has contributed to various newspapers, periodicals, journals and anthologies and has published two books.

 

As a researcher, his work has been featured in various academic journals and anthologies. He holds a PhD in English Literature.

In 2011, he published his first book in Assamese titled Baroti Sadhu, a collection of twelve tales by the Russian author Leo Tolstoy.

​

In 2020, he published Ahom (আহোম) (Orchid Publication, Guwahati), an Assamese translation of noted Indian author Arup Kumar Dutta's The Ahoms (reprinted by HarperCollins in 2022).

​

In December 2022, the second edition of Baroti Sadhu was published, for which Parag did the cover and the illustrations.

​

As a researcher, Parag has published in various academic journals. His essays and book chapters have been published by Palgrave Macmillan, University of Illinois Press, Gauhati University Press, etc.

​

He teaches English Literature at Lakhimpur Girls' College, North Lakhimpur, Assam (India).
